DUI Checkpoint in Lancaster tonight

Image

If you are driving tonight in the city of Lancaster while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department will be looking to take you off the streets.

.    A DUI checkpoint is being set up at an undisclosed location between the hours of 6:00 pm and 2:00 am on Friday, April 1 and it's no April Fool's Joke.

.    LASD Sgt. Robert Hill had this to say, "Impaired drivers put others on the road at significant risk. Any prevention measures that reduce the number of impaired drivers on our roads significantly improves traffic safety.”

.    The sheriff's department wants to remind people that driving under the influence is not limited to impairment by  alcohol but can also mean impairment by drugs  including prescription drugs and over the counter medication and yes, even marijuana.

.    With the average driving under the influence charge costing on average $15,000 between fees and penalties for a first offense as well as suspension of drivers license and possible jail time it's probably cheaper, more responsible and just plain smarter to call uber.
