Los Angeles County accepting applications for Breathe Program

The County of Los Angeles has begun accepting applications for the "Breathe" Program.  This is a guaranteed income pilot program and research study that will provide 1000 participants with $1000. Per month for three years to spend as they choose.

.    The program will study the impact that having a guaranteed income providing participants with more financial stability has on their overall health and well being.

.    Participants will receive the funds paid directly to them on a pre paid debt card to spend how they choose without the scrutiny of work requirements of other income assistance programs.

.    If you wish to apply you must meet certain eligibility requirements which you can find on the county website listed below and be warned, the application process includes a research survey which causes the application process to be somewhat lengthy, taking about an hour and once you begun the survey you cannot save your progress so you will have to start all over.

.    In person applications are being accepted at a number of locations which can be found on the website as well. The application period, which began on March 31 will remain open until April 13.  You must apply by this date and s someone early does not increase your chances of being chosen to participate.
