In an effort to promote public safety by taking drivers off the road who's driving ability is impaired due to the use of alcohol or drugs,  a DUI Checkpoint will be conducted between the hours of 6:00pm to 2:00am on Friday, May 20, 2922, courtesy of Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department-Lancaster Station.

The undisclosed location of the checkpoint Will be based on data showing incidents of impaired driving-related collisions.

The Sheriff's Department wishes to remind everyone that impaired driving and driving under the influence is not only due to Alcohol but also from both prescription and over the counter medications and illegal controlled substances.

And while medicinal and recreational marijuana are legal, driving under the influence of marijuana is not.

With the average fine for a first time DUI charge costing about $13,500 plus suspension of your driver's license and increased car insurance rates, it's much cheaper just to take a cab or Uber.

Party all ya want to, just don't drive when ya do. Have a great weekend everyone.
