With funding provided by the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Los Angeles County Sheriffs Deputies from the Lancaster Station conducted a DUI Checkpoint on Friday, May 20 from 6:00pm until 2:00am on Saturday, May 21 at the intersection of Avenue K and 32nd Street West and the results are in.
Out of 968 vehicles to pass through the checkpoint, no one was arrested for being under the influence. Seven people were however cited for various drivers license offenses. Two motorists were cited for driving a motor vehicle while their license was suspended or revoked. Four people were cited for driving without a license and one vehicle owner was cited for allowing an unlicensed driver to operate their motor vehicle.
Remember, while it's cool to party, it's not cool to drive while you do so. Call a cab, Uber or sober friend or family member if you have been drinking or using drugs including some prescription and over the counter medications. Check with your doctor or pharmacist. And while marijuana may be legal to use, it's not legal to drive while using it.
