Yes, you read that right. The U.S. Border Patrol is now delivering babies. At least one very special agent is.
On May 20, 2022, Agent George Huertas who is a member of The U.S. Border Patrol Search, Trauma and Rescue Team, (BORSTAR) IN San Diego was with his family at NIC Park at Liberty Station, just packing up to leave after having participated in The Miracle Babies Superheroes 5K when his sister Informed him that a woman was giving birth in a nearby public restroom.
Huertas, who is a trained emergency medical technician found the woman giving birth in one of the restroom stalls he used his EMT training and a pair of river gloves given to him by a janitor, he helped the woman safely deliver her baby boy, then initiated breathing, (this is usually the snack on the butt part), then wrapped the infant in one of his sister's baby blankets and cleaning the child's face introduced the nother and soon for the first time. He remained with mother and child until medical personnel arrived.
One of his co-had this to say about Mr. Huertas, "He truly embodies what it means to be a BORSTAR Agent and lives by our moniker, 'So Others May Live.'"
